It is with much joy and honour I assume the mantle of International Leadership of the Chartered Chamber of Java Professionals which is the premier International Institution with a mandate to offer Chartered certification to qualifying java students who aspire to become fully qualified java Professionals in their career. I am assisted by a very qualified and experienced International Council that will help set quality standards to ensure that Java Professionals will become highly respected professionals in their sphere of specialization.

I am well aware that Java has gained enormous popularity since it first appeared. Its rapid ascension and wide acceptance can be traced to its design and programming features, particularly in its promise that you can write a program once, and run it anywhere. Java was chosen as the programming language for network computers (NC) and has been perceived as a universal front end for the enterprise database. A Java Professional is one who has met certain standards of experience and knowledge, as determined by the International Chamber. The successful candidates must pass examinations and comply with rigorous International standards of excellence to finally receive the chartered certification.

The world has emerged from a devastating attack on the economy that saw many large corporates having to wind up their businesses overnight. The shock waves are still experienced in many parts of the world and it forces us to question our old assumptions and established ways of doing work. Creativity and innovation coupled with hi- technology will help us create a new world and new opportunities for talented young men and women to seek new frontiers. Java provides many opportunities for one to exercise such creative powers from a very young age and also apply them to design and implement applications which are easy to use and vital for the modern world in business, medicine and many other related fields. This would also open many job opportunities and channel the energies to become self sufficient.

I welcome all of you who are engaged in the study and research of the Java field to make use of many opportunities provided by the Chamber for your growth and advancement and become fully qualified, certified, Chartered Java Professionals, so that you will hold positions of responsibility to make the next decade a new era of Java Technology.
